Toddington Childcare is a Forest School delivering focused programmes on a weekly basis over a period of 5 – 6 weeks. The Forest School sessions promote holistic development of children, fostering their resilience, confidence, independence and creative skills. The children have the opportunity, whilst being supported by our qualified Forest School Leaders to take risks which are appropriate to both their age and to our environment. Our children have the opportunity to learn and explore in the outdoor environment, experiencing the awe and wonder of the world around them, enjoying activities such as bug hunts, interactive storytelling, natural arts and crafts and physical activities.
We have a designated Forest School area attached to the Zebra garden with an outdoor classroom and a wide range of loose parts play, a wicker tunnel, loft den and natural resources.
Forest School offers numerous benefits for our children’s physical and mental well-being, builds confidence and independence skills and an awareness of caring for animals, nature and the environment. We have two Level 3 trained Forest School Leaders and 3 other staff trained in the Principles of Forest Schooling.
The Forest School is available for all of our Early Years children during term time, is used by our Early Years Room at After School Club and is also used for activities during our Holiday Clubs.
